How to Configure a Static IP—Mac
To connect to the MSS280 using Ethernet (TCP/IP) you must use a static IP for your Mac on the same subnet as the MSS280.
The MSS280 subnet is 192.168.1.X and you must configure your Mac with an IP of the form 192.168.1.X where X can be any integer between 0 and 255 that is not currently in use. Recall 192.168.1.100 is in use by the MSS280 network ports so this IP address may NOT be used.
We recommend using X>30 but bear in mind this is general recommendation and the exact IP addresses you can use will be affected by your local network setup. Each connected user MUST have a distinct IP address.
NOTE: The following is modeled on MacOS 15.5 so may different slightly from the version of MacOS you use.
Click SYSTEM SETTINGS then NETWORK then ETHERNET to get to the screen shown below. Click “Details”
Click TCP/IP
Change ‘Using DHCP” to “Manually” from the drop-down list and enter the IP address you want below that where it says “IP address”. Enter 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask
Your control panel should look similar to that shown below. If so, click OK.
